New Northcote Pottery

|
Visited Northcote Potter Shop at their new premise yesterday to buy some more glaze. The new shop look a lot better than the old one, more space and more light. It also has room for classes as well.

A very cute little thing.

Finally I got my own kiln! After more than 10 years, I finally got my very own kiln..Yippee!

It is a little one but it is mine. I got it from a friend who is moving to China. He sell it to me at a very reasonable rate.

I plan to use it for my blue and white series. I think I can fit 4 big bowls or 8 small bowls in it. Can’t wait to start using it. I keep the little beauty at home in my garage. As it is a single phase one and it doe not have computer control so I have to be with it while firing take place. I just can’t wait to use it.

Friendship Stone

|
"Friendship Stone", a blue and white ceramic installation, is a result of my residency at Presbyterian Ladie's Collage, Malvern, VIC.

The project involved year 3,4,5 and 6 to help me build this installation, using hand forming and blue and white painting technique. The idea is to give the children an opportunity to express their culture and personal identity in a collaborative group environment.

Friendship Stone is named by Emily Zhao, one of the students involved in the project.

It was a great fun project. I enjoywokring with kids very much.
