Finally the wait (for me) is over! My latest project Rope Rote Roung (Taste-Touch-Tell)
is now in store at newsagents near you.

Check out the In Side Out magazine latest issue (Nov/Dec), they feature the project in a beautiful looking layout. I think the photographer have done a wonderful job...especially the magazine stylist, Sue, who help a lot in setting up the dinner table and make it look real good. Thank Sue!

The $12 Million Stuffed Shark

|
To all my artists friends, this is the book for you to read! The $12 million Stuffed Shark by Don Thompson.

The book tells you Why would a smart New York investment banker pay $12 million for the decaying, stuffed carcass of a shark? By what alchemy does Jackson Pollock’s drip painting No. 5, 1948 sell for $140 million?

Why were record prices achieved at auction for works by 131 contemporary artists in 2006 alone, with astonishing new heights reached in 2007? Don Thompson explores the money, lust, and self-aggrandizement of the art world in an attempt to determine what makes a particular work valuable while others are ignored.

This book is the first to look at the economics and the marketing strategies that enable the modern art market to generate such astronomical prices. Drawing on interviews with both past and present executives of auction houses and art dealerships, artists, and the buyers who move the market, Thompson launches the reader on a journey of discovery through the peculiar world of modern art. Surprising, passionate, gossipy, revelatory, The $12 Million Stuffed Shark reveals a great deal that even experienced auction purchasers do not know.

Well the above paragraphs are from the book cover but i think it sum up really well what the book is about. I found i can relate to some of the topic really well especially when Thompson talk about artists and their career.

The book give me more understanding of the art world or art market and my place in the art world!

The exhibition Design Australia, organised by the Australian Embassy Bangkok, will be on display at the Grand Hall of the Siam Discovery Center from 14 to 26 October 2008 as part of the 2nd Bangkok Design Festival.

I am working for the Embassy as an exhibition coordinator and very proud to be part of this exciting exhibition.

Design Australia features eight leading studio designers from the city of Melbourne who use traditional handmade skills in their production process. The exhibition highlights excellence in design, creativity, style and innovation.

Feature designers are Marc Pascal, Sari Harris, Ilka White, Gregory Bonasera, Volker Haug, Zaishu, Maureen Williams and Simon Lloyd

The Embassy is working with an Australian architect/designer Peter Harper
of Harper Design Studio in Bangkok. Here is the lay out design. Look pretty good, I wish I could be one of the designer! if you in town please visit our stand.
